You'll need the following paperwork to legally wed in Iceland:
A birth certificate has to be presented.
A valid passport has to be presented
A certificate of marital status has to be presented. Both partners need to submit a certificate of marital status issued by the relevant authority in their country, state or region. The certificate must be issued within 8 weeks prior to the wedding ceremony. Some countries do not issue a certificate of marital status. If that has been confirmed, and the bride/groom is a foreign citizen or residing abroad, a certificate issued by the relevant authorities in their country, confirming that there are no impediments to the planned marriage, is required. This is usually the tricky part. Don't worry, we'll help you out.
An application form from the office of the District Magistrate of Reykjavik has to be filled out and two best men (witnesses, one for each) certifying ability for marriage, must either have written their names on the application form in advance or do it in the office. The best men do not need to be at the weeding, only if you decide so, but as mentioned before full signature/birthday/month/year is needed. This application you will receive from Pink Iceland. We'll send you this form to fill out.
